A Special Thank You, From MCAAP President Dr. Christine Handy
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you to everyone who showed up today to support MCAAP in our advocacy for fully funding the MCPS budget. A special thanks to James Allrich, Jeff Brown, and Emmanuel Jean-Philippe, who provided testimonials alongside me today.
It came down to the wire, and this morning, Dr. Taylor, Kate Stewart (President of County Council), and Julie Yang met and decided to use one-time funds to fill a gap. Thus, the budget is funded 99.8% for FY26. MCPS will only be short about $9 million, much better than $50 - $70 million. It is safe to say that we will not be reopening contracts. Whew!
Hey- Don’t forget to complete your annual leave conversion forms if you plan to participate. AND the deadline for the early registration for the Summer Leadership Conference is May 15th.
