The Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals (MCAAP) proudly announces that

Mr. Michael Bayewitz, Principal at Cloverly Elementary School, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026, Edye Miller Distinguished Service Award, one of the associations highest honor recognizing sustained, exemplary service and dedication to the mission of MCAAP. The Edye Miller Distinguished Service Award was established in 2017 upon the retirement of longtime MCAAP Executive Director Edye Miller.

This award is presented annually to a member whose voluntary contributions have strengthened the association and inspired others to lead with excellence. The award celebrates distinguished service, collaborative spirit, and a commitment to professional growth of administrators across Montgomery County Public Schools.

Mike Bayewitz has demonstrated exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to MCAAP and the school leaders of Montgomery County Public Schools. As a member of the MCAAP Board of Directors and Vice President of the Elementary Chapter, Mike has played a vital role in strengthening the voice and presence of elementary principals across the district.

Since 2021, he has facilitated both the Elementary Principals’ Professional Learning Community and the Elementary Principals’ Action Team, creating meaningful spaces for collaboration, problem-solving, and advocacy. His leadership has helped elevate the needs, perspectives, and priorities of elementary school leaders.

Mike has also served with distinction on MCAAP’s collective bargaining teams for two successive negotiated agreements, as well as on each economic bargaining team. Through this work, he has helped advance fair, thoughtful, and impactful agreements on behalf of MCAAP members.
