Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, R-Ore., has been sworn in as the latest U.S. secretary of labor. The Senate voted her into the job by a bipartisan 67–32 margin on March 10.

It is time to let our voices be heard with our State Senators. A bill is being presented by a Senate Committee on the floor proposing that a Principal be added to the State Board of Education. They already have community members, a student, a parent, and a teacher on the board but currently lacks representation from school leaders.

Our association remains steadfast in our belief that public education and our nation’s educator workforce must be strengthened with the support of adequate funding.

As we celebrate Women's History Month, we honor the groundbreaking achievements of women like Phebe Sudlow, whose contributions to public education continue to resonate today. Through her pioneering work as the first female principal and superintendent in the United States, Sudlow’s legacy remains a powerful influence on education.
