Labor Day is a reminder that progress has never happened by accident. Throughout our nation's history, working people have come together to improve workplaces, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for future generations.
“My focus is ensuring we can be the best leaders for our teachers and our students. Our school board supports us in this. I’ve always been motivated to help others out in the world, in school and through the union.”
John Sweeney, former president of the AFL-CIO, died Feb. 1.
Sweeny dedicated his life to working people. He was an organizer, working the streets looking to help people have a voice in their workplaces.
