Labor Day is a reminder that progress has never happened by accident. Throughout our nation's history, working people have come together to improve workplaces, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for future generations.

On this Veterans Day and every day, we thank you for your service to our country and to our students. Your example reminds us that leadership is not just about authority; it is about service, sacrifice, and the pursuit of something greater than ourselves.

She credits the military for sharpening her leadership skills, attention to detail and ability to see from different perspectives. “In the military, you become self-sufficient,” she said. “I was a stronger school leader because of it.”
“If it’s just New York City, they can pick you off pretty easily, but when we stand together, when we support unions across the country, we’re unstoppable.”
